Economic stimulus package on track for final votes
By ANDREW TAYLOR Associated Press Writer

Updated: 02/12/2009 09:37:41 AM MST

Economic stimulus legislation at the heart of President Barack Obama's recovery plan is on track for final votes Friday in the House and Senate after a dizzying final round of bargaining that yielded agreement on tax cuts and spending totaling $789 billion. Obama said that this will create 3.5 million jobs and will get the economy back on track. Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people's paychecks this year when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Clearly this is going to help a lot of Americans who are not making enough. Even though Obama is making plans to help our economy it will have to go through some bumps. This is a very scary situation because people are losing their jobs. It will take a while for the economy to get back on track. What we really need are jobs and he isn’t doing anything about that.

I think that the reason they started to sell the tickets now so like that they could prepare people like that they could prepare there stay and stuff.

I am curently reading the fourth one of the gatekeepers series. This is so far about the current 4 of the 5:Matt, Pedro, Scott, and Jamie are looking for the 5th Scarlett aka (Skar). Mean while scarlett is traveling to hongkong to visit he dad who betrays her and gives her to the old ones. The Mofia is on the good side for once and is saving her but all hell breaks loose and she is captured. Then mat and jamie arive in hong kang and meet the mofia leader and prove themselves as a gate keeper and the head to the main island to save Scar. That is as far as i got and so far it is better then the other 3 books by far. More action and problem solving in this book and makes you want to keep going on and on till the very last page.

U.S. Soldier Guilty in 4 Deaths
New York Times
February 20, 2009

Sgt. Michael Leahy Jr. was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The people that were murdered were four Iraqi prisoners. The prisoners were killed by him shooting them in the back of their head and then he disposed of the bodies by dumping them in the Baghdad Canal. Sgt. Michael was 28 years old when he did this to the Iraqi prisoners.
I think he should get life in prison and so should his accomplices. I also think that he did this so he could get out of fighting in the war.

Who's Smooching Hayden Now?
Thu., Feb. 19, 2009 4:49 PM PST by Kristin Dos Santos

Its official the Heros couple broke up because of there ages, hes 31 and shes 19, and because of a pregnancy scare. Milo (Hayden's new "boyfriend") and Hayden are an intensely private couple, so everything out there in the press is speculation and hearsay. Only they know what's really going on. They never acted 'together' on set, and they still aren't acting 'together' now. A comic book writer said that they will be sharing "a steamy underwater kiss". Is this a couple son to be in love or is he just using her for her fame and money.

Milan And Galaxy Agree Beckham Deal, Sport Pundit, Feb. 16, 2009.

Galaxy has agreed to hand over Beckham to Milan and Beckham will not be returning to American soccer. Beckham will stay in Europe.

I think Beckham is too good to play American soccer because it is at such a lower level than European soccer and Beckham had been playing European soccer his whole soccer career so its a better choice to stay there.

NY Post apologizes—to some—over Obama cartoon
By KAREN MATTHEWS Associated Press Writer
2/20/09
The NY Post is apologizing for a cartoon that looks like President Barack Obama looking like a raging chimpanzee shot dead by police in Connecticut. They say the cartoon was meant to “mock the federal economic stimulus bill.”

I think that it was just a misunderstanding, and that it’s good that they apologized for it.

Half of Plant Species Could Vanishfrom Animals Going Extinct by rusne 2/20/09

About 1/2 plants are facing extinction. The IUCN states has 13% of world plants that are under threat. But the US say that at least 22% are going to be extinct. also there is 47% in danger.

My reponse about this is we must save the plants. With out any plants how are bugs going to live and how are animals going to live too. I think everybody some may a garden in your back yard to try to save the plants. Also with out plants how are people that don't eat meat what are they going to eat. Also how are we going to eat with out plants too.

The Project Runway Finale Collections You May Never See Again
New York Times
Feb. 20, 2009

this artcile was about how some runway shows will not be seen ever again because they are really low on money and it costs so much money to go see this and they are not going to show them anymore because the money is such an issue and they also talked about how the new styles that the models are wearing are setting trends for other people in the world because the other people think that the style is really cute and want more people so start that trend.

i agree about this article because they couldnt show the runway because of how big the money issue is and since they have no money they cant do that anymore until they have more money.and i also agree that the settiing new trends because so many people are wearing new things and it keeps growing and growing. i really enjoyed reading this article.

Police arrest two on suspicion of animal cruelty
Rocky Mountian. Published February 19, 2009

This article is about a 21 old female and 22 old male were charged for animal cruelty. Police found 13 dead cats and 2 dead dogs from where they are living. They found 2 dogs and 4 cats alive. They took them to a shelter to be cared for. The 21 female was saying she was part of an animal rescue operation.

I think this is very disturbing. If you had that many animals died at your home, wouldn't you do something about it?! Also why would they hurt those poor animals? Thats not right. Even if the girl was part of a rescue operation that woulldn't be the situation!

Obama to Treasury:Start cutting taxes
CNNMoney.com
February 21, 2009

President Obama told the Treasury to start cutting income tax on American workers. By April 1st a family should take home about $65.00 more a month, which he hopes will stimulate the economy. This tax cut was put through extremely fast. Thursday he will show his proposed budget for 2010 which will reflect "big increases in public spending", as part of the recovery plan.

I do not think that an increase of$65.00 a month will stimulate the economy. People do not have enough
right now to pay their bills, pay their mortgage or buy food. That amount will not help that much. Hopefully next year's budget will be a big improvement that will help stimulate the economy.
